First in Texas Robot Assisted DBS Surgery for Parkinson’s Disease

August 15, 2018— NeuroTexas performed the first robot assisted asleep DBS (Deep Brain Stimulator) procedure on Tuesday.

‘Yesterday our team performed the first robot-assisted surgery for Parkinson’s disease to be done in Texas.  I’m thrilled to offer patients this new avenue of care.  The Mazor Robotic system allows us to place deep brain stimulators with incredible precision and safety, while at the same time allowing our patients to go through this procedure more comfortably and efficiently, than with our traditional methods. As these systems advance I feel the future looks bright for neurosurgeons, like myself, to expand what we are able to do for our patients’ says Dr. Mark G. Burnett, MD, neurosurgeon at NeuroTexas.

Parkinson’s and other neurological symptoms can be treated with DBS.
